Abstract
The adoption of electric vehicle and hybrid vehicle has become possible by remarkable growth in charging infrastructure. This growth can be expanded further by adopting wireless charging of electric vehicle. This challenging task can be fulfilled by efficient and reliable power electronic conversion. This paper presents a fault tolerant control of a high frequency five level cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter which can be used instead of conventional two-level inverter for wireless EV charging. The structure of wireless charging infrastructure and series-series compensation topology is analyzed. The fault diagnosis in five level cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter is achieved by analyzing the switching state & total harmonic distortion of output phase voltage, and normalized output voltage. The redundant switching cell post fault control strategy is explained which ensures the healthy charging of an electric vehicle battery. This makes the entire system fault tolerant. The proposed fault tolerant technique is validated with quantify performance.
